APSCO delegation led by Dr. Li Xinjun, the Secretary-General of APSCO was invited to the 4th International Conference on Continental Earthquakes (ICCE) held during May 12-14, 2018, in Chengdu, China.
The conference offered opportunity for APSCO to present its achievements
and outcomes of its cooperative projects, such as the APSCO GIMI Platform for
Earthquake Signature Project Phase I, in which APSCO could take full advantage
of vast geographical area and network space technologies to benefit its Member
States to support disaster monitoring, prediction and mitigation, especially
for the earthquake disaster.
In the international netwoking session, Dr. Li Xinjun was invited by Mr. Zheng Guoguang, Vice-Minister of Ministry of Emergency Management of China and Administrator of China Earthquake Administration (CEA), to attend the meeting together with other high-level officials from relevant international entities. During the technical session, Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director General, Strategic Planning and Program Management Department of APSCO made a presentation entitled "APSCO: A Well-Established Platform for Global Earthquake Monitoring and Disaster Mitigation Network" to share outcomes of APSCO cooperative projects that benefit its member States, especially the Earthquake Signature Project, both the accomplished 1st phase and the plan for the next phase of the project.
