The 69th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) was held Bremen, Germany, during October 1-5, 2018. It was co-organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and the Centre of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity of Germany (ZARM), in partnership with the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) and the Space Generation Advisory Council SGAC). The Theme of the 69th IAC 2018 was “Involving everyone”.
The APSCO delegation led by the Secretary-General participated in the event. APSCO also rented an exhibition booth to display the achievements and activities of APSCO and introduced the role and functions of APSCO to representatives from many governments, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, International space-related Organizations, Institutions, Universities, icons in the aero-space industry, leading space agencies and the visiting academicians, students and the general public. The exhibition was excellent and also was successful to attract variety of delegates to visit APSCO booth. The prospects of cooperation were also explored with space agencies, Universities in Europe and many countries.
Dr. Li Xinjun, the Secretary-General of APSCO, and two of APSCO delegates were also invited to give views for the media. Dr. Li Xinjun stressed the importance of APSCO as a platform in space science and space application and showcased achievement on cultivating young generation in space science and technology fields among the Member States. He also expressed that APSCO, at its 10th Anniversary celebration in 2018, will reinvigorate the cooperation in the space sector and extend more benefits and share achievements with Member States.
During IAC, APSCO Secretariat attended IAF CLIODN Committee Meeting and reported achievements of APSCO and also apprised that APSCO and the IAF would be signing a Memorandum of Understanding at the APSCO’s 10th Anniversary High-Level Forum, in November 2018, in Beijing, China.
