The GEO Week 2018 was held from 29 October to 2 November, 2018. Over 500 participants from diverse geographies, sectors and technical areas gathered at the event in Kyoto, Japan, to explore the efforts and opportunities for the use of Earth observations for the benefit of humankind, focusing on GEO’s three priority areas: the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The 15th Plenary Meeting of Group on Earth Observations (GEO-XV Plenary) was also convoked during 31 October to 1 November, 2018. As a Permanent Observer of the GEO, APSCO delegation represented by Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director-General of Strategic Planning and Program Management Department, participated in the Plenary Session. Statement from APSCO to share APSCO’s activities related to GEO initiatives, as well as to show our strong support to GEO mission focusing on GEO’s three priority areas mentioned above was expressed in the event. In this international event, APSCO had a great opportunity to share experiences on its ongoing Earth-Observation-related activities with the GEO communities, as well as share common interests with its member States of which most of them are also the members of GEO.
