APSCO delegation attended the Global Space Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) during 19-21, March, 2019.
The Global Space Congress, hosted by the UAE Space Agency, is a strategic gathering of global space industry leaders. Promoting the worldwide industry of space, the Congress brings together over 600 key space agencies, commercial space, academia and end users of space services to evaluate the biggest opportunities in the space sector and to get exposure to the world’s most vibrant and energetic new space programmes. Focused on partnerships, the Congress enables these leaders to focus on collaborative development and the implementation of core space and satellite technology strategies, bringing global and regional economic benefits.
Dr. Li Xinjun, the Secretary-General of APSCO, was invited to participate in the Panel Discussion on the first day in the morning session together with the other two panelists from Hellenic Space Agency and Romanian Space Agency. Panel Discussion was about “developing partnerships for international benefits” and Dr. Li has shared his sharp views and gave the conclusion of “inclusive development together” of international cooperation like APSCO realizing in the field of space.
On the 19th of March, Dr. Li Xinjun had also an official meeting during the Congress with H.E. Mr. Marat R. Murguzhin, the Vice Minister of Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Dr. Li gave an information about collaborative activities and benefits of APSCO and emphasized that APSCO values Kazakhstan’s capacity in the field of space and looking forward the Republic of Kazakhstan as one of APSCO Member State for further cooperation.
On the 20th of March, APSCO delegation met with the Director of United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) Ms. Simonetta Di Pippo and her Programme Officer, Office of the Director, Mr. Markus Woltran, for better preparation on the upcoming “United Nations/ Turkey/APSCO Conference on Space Law and Policy” which will be held in September in Istanbul, Turkey.
By taking this opportunity, APSCO delegation had an exchange of views with mutual interest and had bilateral meetings with Pakistan, Egypt, Australia, Oman, Algeria and other country representatives.
