The 4th Expert Group Meeting on the Development Plan of Space Activities of Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization was held on 18-21 June, 2019 at APSCO Headquarters, in Beijing, China. Experts from all Member States of APSCO participated in the meeting. Its main objective is to review the current version of the Development Plan of Space Activities of APSCO (2011-2020).
Dr. Li Xinjun, Secretary-General of APSCO, welcomed all participants on behalf of the Secretariat. He appreciated all Member States for their active contribution and proposals to the Development Plan of APSCO. He emphasized the importance of the Plan in guiding for implementation of all cooperative projects and activities for mutual benefits of APSCO Members.
During the meeting, all Member States presented their proposals in the domains of Space Technology Development, Space Science, Space Application, DSSP Application, and Education and Training Activities, respectively. Accordingly to comments from the experts, the Development Plan of Space Activities of APSCO (2011-2020), and Development Plan of Education and Training Activities of APSCO (2015-2020) were updated to meet the requirement of the Member States.
Discussion and brainstorming on the next version of the Development Plan for the next decade (2020-2030) was also open to all experts. The APSCO Development Vision-2030, endorsed in 2018, will be the key driver in formulating the new Plan that will guide the organization toward the next development phase, opening a new chapter in space cooperation, and further enhancing prosperity among its Members.
As the final conclusion of the meeting, all delegates agreed to put up the updated plan to the upcoming Administrative Heads Meeting for their recommendations to the APSCO Council for approval.
