The Site Validation Field Campaign of Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project was successfully held in Tehran and Kashan, Iran, from 28 June to 2 July, 2019. Experts from Iran, Mongolia, Peru, Thailand and Turkey attended this activity.
Dr. Ferhat Fikri Özeren, Deputy Director General of Strategic Planning and Program Management Department of APSCO chaired the Opening Session. On behalf of APSCO Secretariat, he welcomed all experts and thanked for their participation to the event. He also emphasized the importance of this project and appreciated the project leader, TUBITAK UZAY and support of Iranian Space Agency for their significant contribution to this site validation field campaign.
Ms. Susan, project manager of Strategic Planning and Program Management Department of APSCO gave a presentation on the background introduction of the project as well as the main objectives of this site validation field campaign.
Mr. Ali Sadeghi Naeini, on behalf of Iranian Space Agency, he made a presentation on ISA introduction and showed great willing to cooperation with APSCO in line with visions of APSCO 2030 and wished the field campaign a great success.
Mr. Babak Arjmand, gave a presentation on the Site Selection Procedure in Iran. Mr. Mohammad Reza Varasteh, made a presentation on Field Campaign Overview in Iran and Kashan.
Mrs. Husne Seda Deveci, the Project Manager from Project Leader, gave a presentation on a detailed introduction of the Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project. Including its objectives, overview of planned project activities, detailed description of working packages, training, field campaigns, workshops and Center of Excellence (CoE).
On 29-30 June, 2019, the Site Validation Field Campaign of Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project was held in Hoz Soltan and Namak Lake, Kashan, Iran, respectively. Experts from Iran, Mongolia, Peru, Thailand and Turkey participated to the Field Campaign. Experts visited to the Sites and focused on-site characterization and validation.
During the Data Processing Sessions, the Project Leader gave instructions and guidance to the Member States experts on how to conduct the data text and both onsite measurement and satellite image data.
All experts recognized that the Site Validation Field Campaign activities had been successfully conducted, and their main objectives have been well achieved. All participating experts acknowledged and appreciated the contributions and hospitality from the Project Leader and Iranian Space Agency.
The next two site expeditions were discussed among Project Leader and host countries- Mongolia and Peru, and the next coming site expedition will be held in Mongolia, in September, 2019.
