The Secretariat of APSCO organized training course on “Advanced Remote Sensing Techniques” jointly with Iranian Space Agency (ISA) and University of Tehran (UT) during 7-12 July 2019 in Tehran, Iran.
The opening ceremony was held in the morning of 7 July. On behalf of APSCO, Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi, the Director General of Education and Training Department made a welcome speech followed by speeches from Mr. Ali Naeni representing Iranian Space Agency and Prof. Dr. Hosein Arefi from University of Tehran. They welcomed all participants and lectures, introduced the related institutions and background of this refreshing training course.
The training course was targeted at professionals who require to be updated by the latest knowledge and skills on the use of remote sensing in environmental monitoring. Participants came from a broad range of organizations including space agencies, physical planning institutions, professionals and GIS and RS related firms. Upon completion of the training course, participants are able to describe and utilize modern remote sensing imagery for different applications such as environmental and disaster monitoring.
8 lectures and 4 mentors from 6 universities including lecturers from USA, Germany and Canada, with over 20 participants from Member States joined the training course. The event was successfully finished on 11 July 2019. Certificates of completion were issued to all trainees.
A cultural tour was organized on 12th July. Participants expressed their satisfaction over the training and the arrangement of cultural visits.
