During October 21-25, 2019, APSCO delegation attended the 70th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Washington D.C.
As the partner organization to IAF, The Secretary-General Dr. Li Xinjun was invited to participate the VIP gathering with the Heads of Space Agencies and International Organizations. They exchanged views on concerned topics with mutual interests.
On October 22nd, APSCO attended the IAF Committee for Liaison with International Originations and Developing Countries (CLINTON) meeting. Secretary-General Dr. Li Xinjun showcased the APSCO activities co-joined with international partners, which commit itself into improving the social and economic development of the region.
An official meeting was held between Director General Mr. Jean Worner of European Space Agency (ESA) and APSCO Secretary-General Dr Li Xinjun on October 23rd. With mutual understanding, Mr. Worner is delight to support APSCO activities in the aspect of co-organizing symposium, and capacity sharing in space law. Furthermore, it is brought up the concerns of remote sensing data sharing. Both sides intended to concrete and sign relevant implementation conditions to carry out the Data Sharing program with APSCO platform
The Director-General of Department of Strategic Planning and Program Management Dr. Manop Aorpimai made a presentation themed “Integrating Satellite and Ground Observations for Earthquake Signatures and Precursors in Asia-Pacific Region” in the technical session, which demonstrated the APSCO earthquake research project can benefit the people in the region.
The delegation attended different general sessions, technical sessions and the exhibition, met with officials and scholars. The Secretary-General emphasized that APSCO has been carrying out many activities by utilizing space technology and applications; conducting trainings and educational program for capacity building among Member States. Those good examples shall be shared in the international community for promoting the organization.
