Invited by United Nation Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), on behalf of APSCO Secretariat, Mr. Xu Yansong, the Director General of Department of Program Operation and Data Service, led the delegation of APSCO participated the ‘World Space Forum：Access to Space4All’ held from November 18 to 22 in Vienna.
This forum is jointly hosted by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Federal Ministry of the Republic of Austria for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), on behalf of the Government of Austria. On the basis of the policy outcomes of UNISPACE+50, it carries out the four pillars idea in spatial international cooperation as the theme of this forum: 1. Space Economy；2. Space Society；3. Space Accessibility; 4. Space Diplomacy. Attended by nearly 300 representatives from 66 countries all over the world, this forum can be served as a brilliant platform for the increasing potential of space technologies to contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For the first half of the forum during Nov. 19-20, after the beginning session, the experts gave their presentations to exchange exploring new initiatives for a more inclusive and holistic development of space, which mainly focused on several topics as follows: creating a space economy for all, sharing the benefits of space for all, facilitating access to space for all and guaranteeing a secure space environment for all. For the second half of the forum during Nov.21-22, it shifts to high-level panels on: space economy, space society, space accessibility and space diplomacy.
During the second half of the forum, Mr. Xu addressed a speech at Panel IV Space Diplomacy and answered the questions of the participants on November 22. After a brief introduction of APSCO, his speech focused on sharing the experience in space diplomacy, particularly in space law, and how APSCO benefits its Member States through Capacity Building, Talents Cultivation, Data-sharing and Application, Network of Cooperative Projects, Building International Knowledge-exchanging Platform and so on.
At the last day of the forum, Ms. Simonetta Di Pippo, Director of UNOOSA, delivered a concluding speech and showed her highly gratitude to all the participants for their contributions to this forum. After her speech, APSCO Delegation had a nice talk with her and expressed our expectation to deepen the cooperation with UNOOSA.
