Flat-table Tests of the Integrated Engineering Model of APSCO SSS Project Were Successfully Held

The APSCO Student Small Satellite (SSS) Project has completed a critical milestone as flat-table tests of the Integrated Engineering Model of SSS-1 Microsatellite were jointly organized by APSCO and Beihang University during 2-29 December 2019. More than 20 students and young engineers from the Member States participated in this activity. The participants came from Beihang University, SUPARCO, AmirKabir University of Technology, Sharif University of Technology, and K.N. Toosi University of Technology. Besides, consultants and experts from university and space industry were invited to provide technical support.

As leading university of the SSS Project, Beihang University first arranged unit level test of SSS-1 microsatellite subsystems including OBDH, EPS, ADCS, UVHF, S-band, RS Camera, etc. Afterwards, the whole system integration test was conducted.

With the great effort from all participants, this EM Integrated Test was successfully completed. This activity marks a huge progress of SSS project as it is realizing one of the main goals of the project for providing hands-on training practice for students of the Member States and promoting the cooperation among APSCO Member States.

The EM Integrated Tests on the two CubeSats of SSS Constellation have already been conducted and qualification tests and manufacturing of the Flight Models are the upcoming activities planned for this project.
