A working meeting between APSCO and Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) on “APSCO-NPU Development Base for Aerospace Talent” was held at APSCO HQ, Beijing, China, on May 20, 2020. The delegation of NPU was comprised of the officials from the Office of International Cooperation, International College and School of Astronautics. Dr. Li Xinjun, Secretary-General of APSCO, warmly welcomed the delegation and appreciated NPU for continuing to provide strong support to APSCO especially for capacity-building of young generation.
The meeting was hosted by Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi, Director -General of Education and Training Department of APSCO and was divided into two sessions. In the morning, the proposal of NPU for sustainable development of APSCO Student Small Satellite (SSS) Project was discussed. NPU presented a proposal on sustainable development of the SSS project driven by competition and training, which APSCO would soon share with Member States and seek their comments.
In the afternoon, the meeting was organized around the aerospace talent development. A number of innovative activities including development of curriculum with characteristics of aerospace system engineering are expected to be jointly developed in future. Besides, modalities of conducting short training were also discussed. During the COVID-19 pandemic period, the short training will mainly focus on effective tele-communication and trainings around health, environment and aerospace new technologies for MSs senior experts and government officials.
Both parties showed great interest to make every effort for providing the maximum benefit for APSCO MSs.
