The First Expert Group Meeting on the Feasibility Study Report of “Flood Management Information System Project” was held through teleconference during 24-25 November, 2020. Experts from all Member States and the project management team from APSCO Secretariat participated in this meeting.
Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director General of the Department of Strategic Planning and Program Management, addressed the opening speech on behalf of APSCO Secretariat and welcomed all participants. He emphasized the importance and high priority of cooperative projects using satellite remote sensing data to tackle disaster problem, especially on flood that affects all Member States. He also encouraged utilization of satellite data sharing among all Member States under the APSCO data sharing service platform. He expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the project initiator, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), and their project team for contributions to the feasibility study report.
During the feasibility study report review and discussion, Mr. Raheel Ahmad, Manager from SUPARCO delivered a presentation on the feasibility study report of the project. Detailed discussion on the draft feasibility study report was carried out based on recommendations and comments from experts of Member States. The Feasibility Study Report shall be updated and proceeded further for implementation under APSCO platform.
