On behalf of APSCO Secretariat, Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director-General, and Dr. Ferhat Fikri ÖZEREN, Deputy Director-General from the Department of Strategic Planning and Program Management, participated in the online meeting of the 58th Session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee (STSC) of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS) during 19-30 April, 2021.
As an Inter-Governmental Organization with the Permanent Observer status of the COPUOS, the APSCO delegation actively participated in all sessions. On 27 April, Dr. Ferhat Fikri ÖZEREN delivered a statement during the virtual session, reporting on the cooperative activities of APSCO. Dr. Ferhat Fikri ÖZEREN presented an update on the Organization’s work in the past year in support of the aims of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee. He also shared that APSCO gives highest priority on taking advantage of the wide coverage area of the Asia-Pacific to enhance benefits of APSCO Members in region. Consequently, networks of Space Science, Technology and Application Programmes, as well as Space Education, Training and Capacity Building have been emphasized in the APSCO Development Plan 2030, which was approved by the APSCO Council in December 2020.
APSCO supports the work of the STSC and contributes to the discussions and working groups at the STSC through regular participation and sharing of information and initiatives of related to APSCO activities.
