The Second Joint Working Group Meeting on Project Operation and Utilization was organized on 17-19 May 2021, via teleconference. Experts from Bangladesh, China, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand, Turkey, and the project management team from APSCO Secretariat participated in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Manop Aorpimai, Director-General of the Strategic Planning and Program Management Department of APSCO.
Recently, a number of cooperative projects of APSCO have successfully completed their implementation milestones and transferred to operational phase. This meeting focused on discussing the operation and utilization of three projects, namely, Radiometric Calibration of Satellite Sensors Project, Ionospheric Modeling through Study of Radio Wave Propagation and Solar Activity Project Phase I, and Research on Determining Precursor Ionospheric Signatures of Earthquakes by Ground Based Ionospheric Sounding Project Phase I.
During the meeting, the operation status of the three projects was introduced. The future operation and utilization of the networks were fully discussed. It was agreed by all experts that operation phase of cooperative projects is very important. Besides, in order to bring maximum benefits to all APSCO Member States, it was emphasized that related training courses would be organized and cross-projects data utilization shall be assured to support the research works of the Joint Working Group which would be coordinated by the Secretariat.
