In order to successfully hold the training course, the Secretariat has made thorough and detailed schedule and arrangement.
1.Contents of the course
The Secretariat has made the arrangement of the training course after carefully surveying the requirement of APSCO s member states for the data and its applications of Remote Sensing satellite and incorporating the cutting edge of the application of the international space technology into disaster reduction. Following the theme of data processing and application of Remote Sensing satellite, the Secretariat of APSCO has worked out 21 subjects of around 50-hours classes. This training course can be divided into 7 modules which include: 1) Data receiving and processing of CEBERS/HJ, 2) Technical application of HJ Remote Sensing Satellite, 3) Disaster Monitoring and Assessment, 4) Introduction on Beijing-1 Small Satellite and Its Data Applications, 5) Chinese Meteorological Satellite system and Its Applications, 6) Applications of SPOT Image in China and 7) THEOS and Applications. (See the attachment II of Training Program).
22 professors and experts were selected based on their experience and achievements in the remote sensing field. Most of them were recommended by Beijing Normal University, China Spacesat Co., Ltd, China Center for Resource Satellite Data and Applications (CRESDA), Institute of Remote Sensing Applications Chinese Academy of Sciences, Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency of Thailand (GISTDA), China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station, China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Beijing Spot Image Company, National Disaster Reduction, 21 Century Company, etc.
In order to make a good communication between experts and participants, the Secretariat has organized a Q&A technical forum before the closing ceremony. 4 experts from different fields were invited and answered many questions that participants raised during the forum. From the forum, both experts and participants have fully exchanged their ideas and laid a good foundation for their future cooperation.
2.Technical visit and relating activities
In accordance with the character of training course, the Secretariat has arranged technical visits which closely cooperated with class training. Participants have visited China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), CRESDA, CMA and its ground station. The technical visits have helped participants master the knowledge what they have learnt and expanded their capability of applications.
In CAST, Participants received warm welcome and visited three parts: the Exhibition of satellite applications, Shenzhou Man Flight Space Exhibition and Space Exploration Exhibition. CAST showed series of Dong Fang Hong satellites and made detailed introduction. In Shenzhou Man Flight Space Exhibition, participants were deeply attracted and raised many questions. In CRESDA, experts reflected upon what CRESDA accomplished in international cooperation and showed participants the CRESDA CBERS data processing system and HJ data processing system. In CMA, expert introduced the Chinese Meteorological Satellite system and its applications, and in the ground station, expert made the demonstration for participants.
The Secretariat has arranged a sightseeing tour of Beijing for participants so that they can enjoy their time in Beijing after class. The sightseeing includes the visit of Ming Tomb, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, etc. and shopping activities.
